Thing 6: Digital Security

How Secure Is My Password ? A question I'm sure everyone has wondered when updating or creating a password. I know that when I've created a password in the past I have often though ‘oh this takes ages’ or ‘why do I need a number and symbol’.  After reading the information liked on the Badge page, I definitely understand why this is important. It can be frustrating trying to remember all of the different passwords but there are good tips and techniques used to make them more memorable.

I've always been aware of the Social media games and how they ask for information such as your pets name or where you grew up, but I had never thought about that being the way for information to be gathered. I have definitely taken part in some of these quizzes in the past. I found this interesting to learn as I now feel more aware of the risks about these games.

I have watched the video regarding Wifi-Security, I found his an informative video that clearly explains and shows how intrusive people can be when using public Wi-Fi and how easily information can be obtained. I think more people should be made aware of this video.

To reflect on what I have learned, I was aware about the usage of VPN’s but I will definitely consider how strong I make passwords. I feel the techniques shared are very helpful. I am aware that apps ask for permissions to access camera/locations etc. I feel I am careful when accepting or declining these, although,

I was not aware that when an update takes place the operating system is often returned to default. I will ensure I will check this when updating and technology. I am glad I am now aware of this.

I feel I can apply this knowledge to your role in social services because I can share this information with other members in my team, and I will  be sure to take care when dealing with sensitive information.
