Thing 23 : Next Steps
Thing 23: Next Steps
Reflect. I always find it interesting to reflect, - especially on my professional
development. After completing the 23 Things Digital badges I feel there are
many things I’ve learned, such as the impact of social media, learning and
connecting. Also the different tools that I could use to benefit my online
learning. My thoughts on this approach to learning have definitely changed. I
began these badges feeling unsure if I would be able to work digitally as I did
not have confidence. I now feel that I do
have the confidence and by completing these badges has enabled me to learn online.
I have went back to my self-assessment from Thing 3, and I have reflected
on the scores you gave myself during completing this assessment for the first
time in terms of capability, confidence and relevance.
At the time of completing the evaluation form I felt confident in the
use of digital programmes and software within my Job role. I felt confident in
working out new programmes and using different technologies
After scoring myself a second time I would say that, I feel that my capacity
levels have moved higher as I now feel confident in using programmes and
applications that I didn’t before. I feel that my confidence has definitely grown
and I would feel more comfortable in helping another colleague with digital
work. I still do not feel confident participating in teams calls, although I have
been involved in these a lot more,
The changes I have noticed are that I feel more confident when I am
asked to learn online and I do not panic about this. This is due to having more
knowledge in how to learn online.
Further learning needs I have identified are I feel
that I would need more learning based on webinars etc. I have attended a couple
of webinars but I would like to learn more about how to find and access
different webinars.
I would recommend a 23 things approach to learning to
other social service workers as I really feel that it has been beneficial to
me, I feel that I am now more aware of the different resources and application
that are out there for people to use.
I would you consider developing a 23 things
resource for your organisation, or work alongside another member of staff to
develop a resource as I feel that the only thing missing from the badges was an
introductory badge showing how to use different sites. I know that some of my colleague’s
struggle using technology and have just began their journey and I feel they
would rally benefit from this.
I have requested an evaluation survey to fill in, as this will allow me
to give feedback and reflect further about the 23 Things Digital Course.
To reflect on the activities above, I would say that overall I have
found it very beneficial as I have learned mostly about the different websites
and applications are at my fingertips. I found the process of working through
the 23 things digital badges well thought out, I enjoyed that they were ordered
appropriately and gave clear instruction of what you are supposed to do. I also
liked that I could have some free range to write my answers as these were blog
style.
My plan for what I am going to do next with my digital capabilities in
the future is try to support other colleagues with my new knowledge and help
the best I can. For the future, I will apply my learning to my practice as I am
aware of where to find new information and access learning courses that benefit
my practice, enabling me to gain knowledge and confidence.
Teneo et Teneor,
Hannah.
